SALT: rubbed into wounds and every other place

In attempting to describe this atrocious Angelina Jolie spy thriller I'm thinking of a four letter word which also begins with the letter S and ends with the letter T.
This word is often preceded by the word 'horse.'

No film exists in a vacuum. Almost everything we watch at the cinema or on dvd is the result, however tangentaliy, of the films that have come before it. In the 1930s the big studios regularly cannibalised their own output in order to create enough product to satisfy the millions who went to the cinema every week. If a particular story clicked with the public it got recycled. If if it didn't click it still got re-used albeit with a more drastic rewrite.
By and large Hollywood today is still doing the same kind of thing. The big difference is that today's film-makers have almost a century's worth of movies to draw on for inspiration.
A lifetime of watching all kinds of films, but with a particular fondness for those produced in the 30s and 40s, has given me an enormous collection of reference points to draw on and inform the reviews which appear on The Film I've Just Seen.
